New NARUTO Series Announced

Well, that didn't take long...

And surely, those who insist that manga/anime series always end when they’re supposed to are going to find some way of saying this "doesn’t count" in the way that the EVA rebuilds and BATTLE OF GODS "don't count…"

CrunchyRoll has scooped the next issue of JUMP, revealing that the conclusion of NARUTO will, in fact, coincide with the announcement of an additional series. Anybody who was wondering how NARUTO could ever wrap up all its plot lines in the few installments left before this abruptly-announced finale has a better answer now, perhaps.

This ad asserts that the sequel series will come next spring, and only last for a short term. Considering how the newest movie is actually subtitled THE LAST, it seems like the NARUTO press team here is adopting what could be called “KISS Farewell Tour" marketing tactics. Anybody feeling sad about the conclusion of the series should breath easier, confident we'll be seeing the ninja kid for a long time to come, still.

What do you Vicers make of this? Do you feel relief? Does it answer some Q's about the latest installment? What are you hoping to see in this follow-up? Or should the team just give it a rest, already?

Should had saw it coming, Naruto is unfortunately too popular for a quick dead, and unlike DBZ, I am not really looking forward for it. Although some new character could be refreshing I guess, since it might be better than the war arc that was not only too long but the villains sucks. Obito was a cry baby who lost to talk no jutsu, Madara die to a random villain that nobody care about, and kaguya killed a awesome villain and became a really lame one. Heck even sakura was helpful against kaguya, that how you know you failed as a villain, especially when all you doing is crying. And while sasuke was decent, he didn't kill anybody and looks like he going to change his way and his conviction. So my point is, at least it will be refreshing.

Hope it for one volume

I think it be about Naruto becoming Hokage

I prey this won't happen to One Piece, when it end in the year 3014 :)

MasterAsiaon Nov. 5, 2014 at 3:59 p.m.

Seems like it's centering around the kids. Could look at it as Naruto Rugrats addition with Sasuke and Sakura's daughter as Angelica. The kids will team up for an epic showdown to bring down the Ramen Man.

LHWKnighton Nov. 5, 2014 at 4:04 p.m.

This will most likely be about Naruto and the rookie nine's kids.

I just hope it doesn't suck.

Heard about this earlier today. I don't know how successful it will be. If the focus is the kids, particularly Naruto's kid/s then I would reference DBZ. Popular demand is that the main character stay the main character. Gohan was made to replace Goku but popular demand required Goku to re-take the lead role mantle. This happens all the time in western Comics too. I'd much rather see how Naruto's and co. evolve as mature adults.

The team should just give it a rest. Let the anime production company keep pumping out all the movies they like. That's what Toei has done with DBZ. I had heard some rumblings about this a while back, but couldn't confirm anything.

Really, all the plot lines had been pretty much summed up. The only thing I think they left hanging was the name of the brother of the Sage of Six Paths, and he only appeared a couple months back in flashbacks of events. he had never even been so much as mentioned. My best wager is that this may tell the story of Naruto becoming Hokage. I don't see that happening in these last two chapters, and it would be insane if that milestone was only shown in the movie.

This is just even more confusing. The way this "finale" is being treated in the magazine, with the other creators and staff giving their thoughts on Kishimoto and his series. Isn't that sort of awkward to have all these people saying their goodbyes only to return with another story set in the same world a few short months later?

If this is just going to be a short term series, I don't see a problem with that, but why with a new series? Why not just let the series go on hiatus until Spring, then treat this as the final arc?

It still bothers me that they're putting out this movie that tells the story of the finale, when the anime audience is still a year behind the manga.

I don't see how you could make this new series something long term. What would it possibly be about? They've already saved the world.

By the images and rumors I saw today, this promises to be...atrocious. Horrible. Traumatizing. I think "ruined childhood" isn't even cutting it. And I didn't even watch Naruto until I was 12.

Dekkenon Nov. 5, 2014 at 7:01 p.m.

My initial reaction is, "let it die man", but until we know more details of the new series I won't know how to feel about this. If story is somewhat interesting and it only last for a couple of years, then I'm ok with it.

I hope the series ends well. Dragon Ball Z was so popular, fans wanted a sequel. They got Dragon Ball GT which I enjoyed. I found out a lot of folks didn't enjoy Dragon Ball GT to my surprise in Anime Vice.

I just going to wait on the details on the series. We just going to have a lot of speculation on this series. Is is a prequel, a sequel (aftermath of the war and Naruto's child like Shaman King Flowers), etc?

I think I would only be interested in this if it was in the distant future. I don't want to see much more of the same.

katmicon Nov. 5, 2014 at 11:01 p.m.

This is both what I expected and wanted; this finale is way too rushed. A short arc to wrap things up is what the series needs. And if the images are anything to go by, the series will follow the kids of the main characters as well as the rookie nine in their adult forms, more or less playing the role of guardian that the previous generation played to Naruto and group.

Being a Naruto fan I am ecstatic about this. The fact that Naruto and Sasuke saved the world doesn't mean their is no more story to tell; that is like saying because the world defeated Hitler, there must be peace. Kishimoto doesn't need to create bigger badder villains to continue the story. Naruto ISN'T Dragon ball.

Just when I thought the nightmare was over...

And here I thought we would actually see Naruto end. Personally, I wish they would just wrap up Shippuden and end it like it had appeared they were doing. The series is long past the point of drawn out, and once you've saved the world, turning the series's focus onto the younger generation will just seem like a step backwards. But I suppose if people are still willing to buy it, they will keep making it.
