New Code Geass Manga Announced, Full of Ninjas

And there's nothing wrong with that.

Though there is no confirmation if this is the one and only project that was alluded to recently, a new Code Geass manga has been announced. Like with Knightmare of Nunnally and Tales of an Alternate Shogunate, this new series, titled Renya of the Blackness (漆黒の 連夜, Shikkoku no Renya) takes place in an alternate universe. Actually, that's not true at all. While it takes part in another time period, Renya is supposed to factor into the same timeline as our mainstream Code Geass series.

The story takes place in the Edo period (1603 to 1868) looks at a young man named Renya, who signs a contract with a certain perpetually young witch named C.C. Though details of his geass or plot is limited, they did reveal that the character has an entirely mechanical arm...

Oh well. The manga is being worked on by Goro Taniquchi, the director and co-creator of the anime's story, so bleed over allusions are bound to be the letter of the day. No release venue or schedule as of yet, but when we know, you'll know.

Question: Do we want more Geass? Is this an appropriate continuation, or just milking the cash cow?

Hmm, no if it's just ninja, but if they're zombie ninja, then hell ya

...i'm not entirely sure how i feel about it. on one hand it seems like an interesting concept, on the other i feel like they could be pushing it a little too much. i guess i'll just have to read it.

Anyone else feel like this is going to be another Dbz?

As a Kallen fan.\, I just want to know how she works into this project.

I am interested to see what this is all about. I'll give it a chance, but they might be pushing it if this isn't the project that was previously hinted at. Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.

Code Geass has a variable concept; undying witches make contracts with other people. If they keep the lenght short and the eye`s function interesting, I`ll always look out for them~

I liked Code Geass but I the only thing I can say is MOOOOOOOO!
Nikoon Dec. 7, 2009 at 8:03 p.m.
Sure, go ahead. I don't expect or need strict canon adherence here.

@CrazyCanuck: MOO?

So who's ready for Edo-period table humping?

@Niko: Oh table humper.

@CrazyCanuck:
Moo?

This is Sunrise we're talking about. Of course they're just milking the cash cow.

@Nerx: It's the sound a cash cow makes.

Of course I want more. It's like a train wreck, it is gruesome and it shouldn't be entertaining, but I still keep my eyes on the event and don't even blink lest I miss something. I liked the first two seasons of Geass, I find the manga adequate and if this is good enough and Taniguchi makes it as complex as the original, then I'm all for. Then again, how exactly do we fit together those three: the same timeline as original Code Geass, Edo period and mechanical arm. After all at first it was said that the timeline went aside from the real one we line in sometime in the late 19th century.  How then do we get the mecha arm? Did Winry jump series and go there to help poor suffering Renya?

@CrazyCanuck: Oh , l thought you tried saying NOOOOOO

I can't say yes or no until I see how they write it. You see it could be great or badly. And speculating on whether it is going to be any good be for I find out more would be pointless.
