You didn’t think I was going to abandon you guys all weekend, did you? I’d have been blogging hours ago if it weren’t for that whole flying-to-Portland-and-returning-home-to-a-freezing-apartment-with-broken-Internets thing. (Damn broken Internets.)
But you don’t care about my broken Internets. You care about new anime that was just announced in ’s Newtype magazine! So let’s get going…first up, the cute CLAMP series Kobato., also known as that anime that has a period at the end of the name for no apparent reason, serialized in Newtype, is going to be developed into an anime. I’m sure you’re shocked. (Hey, with xxxHOLiC’s second season ended we had to get some kind of CLAMP anime fix, right?)Moving on, Keion! (or K-ON!), a 4koma manga strip is being developed into an anime. The series revolves around four girls who are members of the Keion Club (keion as in keiongaku, or classical/traditional/acoustic music), which is being forced to shut down.
And the third new series is Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~, which is based on the visual novel Phantom of Inferno by Nitro+. Due to the different name, it’s unclear at this point whether it will be a direct adaptation or something set in the same world. That said, some staff has already been announced, including director Koichi Mashimo (.hack, Tsubasa Chronicle) and a number of artists who are working on the character designs, such as Mutsumi Sasaki (creator of Happy Lesson and character designer for Myself;Yourself) and Yoshimitsu Yamashita (character designer for Blade of the Immortal’s anime).
So there you have it, three new titles to look forward to—a sweet, melancholy CLAMP title, a high school comedy, and what is probably going to be a rather dark romantic drama. Which one sounds best to you? Let me know in the comments!
