New Anime to Break Blades

Yunosuke Yoshinaga's manga Break Blade, a robot series that CMX has been releasing in English in the US (as Broken Blade), is being developed into an anime, says Moon Phase.

The story is set in a fantasy world where warriors fight in golems-- basically mechs, but powered by quartz crystals, which the warriors power up by magic. Unfortunately, main character Rygart is the only person in the world that CAN'T power them up, making him useless in battle...until he comes upon an ancient golem that doesn't seem to require any crystals. And only he can make it run.

No word on when the anime might come about or anything along those lines, but you can check out a preview of the manga over at CMX's website. The preview is very short, and you don't get to see much of the described plot, but it'll give you a sense of the art and style.

What do you think? Is this something you'll want to check out? It sounds like kind of an interesting world setting to me, and a bit of a switch from the usual "normal guy finds he has magic powers in our world" stories as well.

Actually sounds kinda interesting... I'll probably check out the anime at least (mecha and manga usually don't work together so well), though I'm kinda surprised this is a mecha series that started as a manga and was later made into an anime.... usually it's the other way around (for mech shows).

Break Blade is currently beginning to pick once again. I have found no sources as to how long Yunosuke Yoshinaga nor the release dates of each volume. Also a correction to the article, the main character is not the only one "without magic". It is said that out of 1 million people a "Un-sorcerer" is born and it just so happens that both him and his brother are un-sorcerers.
