Mystery! Unnamed Ishinomori Work Gets Hollywood Flick

Hmm, I dunno...

Word on Nikkei Net is that one of Shotaro Ishinomori's works-- the be-afro'd mangaka behind a number of manga, anime, and tokusatsu titles --is getting ready for a 2012 Hollywood live-action movie. Which one is it? I don't know, but I have my guesses. Ishinomori is best known for titles like Cyborg 009, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and the recently-adapted The Skull Man...as well as the famous tokusatsu title Kamen Rider.

I've gotten a bit of information here and there on Kamen Rider, whose Dragon Knight (the US version of Kamen Rider Ryuki, Americanized a la Power Rangers) is currently airing on the CW, during the CW4Kids block (Saturdays at 11:30am). I wouldn't be surprised at all if a Hollywood Kamen Rider flick was in the works.

ANN, on the other hand, offers another lead: Cyborg 009's offical website had an update talking about offers for overseas adaptations on the 45th anniversary of the manga, which was back in July. It's unclear whether this is the film in reference now; Cyborg 009 already has an animated flick in the works.

What would you rather see a live-action flick of? Kamen Rider or Cyborg 009? I'm not particularly familiar with Kamen Rider and haven't really watched a tokusatsu SINCE Power Rangers, so I'm rather torn between which I'd rather see. Go ahead, make my mind up for me!

Since Kamen Rider is already being adapted here, I would doubt that would stay unnamed. Although a completely original movie based off of Dragon Knight (like Power Rangers: the Movie) could be neat, I doubt the show has that large of support.

If I had to guess, Skull Man would seem like a good bet. It's a dark, gritty tale of revenge, which seems like a no-brainer for a Hollywood wanting that kind of superhero movie.

gia: Yes if i where you, you should watch the two Kamen Rider remake movies ( first. next) they where comparable to the Casshern and Yatterman remake movies (HEY! those count as Tokusatsu too btw!! XD)

Guessing it aint the 3rd of the new instalment franchise which would introduce Gackt as Riderman to the 3 other Riders and show that Ichimonji is still alive. Since that was all a rumour after all.
Now i`m hoping its one of his lesser known flicks so not 009 (would be cool though) or 009-1 or Skullman. I`m also hoping for one of his golden oldies that set him apart from all the other mangaka!! (Zubatto) if not still 009 ^^

@Niko:@Kelleth: Interesting speculation. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

@Kelleth: I also agree it wouldn't be a third in the line of Kamen Rider remakes, mostly because The First and The Next weren't Hollywood films in the first place, so why would Hollywood pick up in the middle of a series instead of just remake it all themselves.

009-1 would also probably be a good bet as well.
