Move over Gundam, Time for Life Sized Gigantor!

Now we just need to make them fight!

In the two plus years I've been covering anime and J-culture, I've noticed that the Japanese just love making enormous Gundams. We've seen lanterns, statues, and slightly movable robots more recently, though I rarely see any non-gundam monoliths. That said, Kobe City will soon be home to a monolithic Gigantor (Testujin 28.)
Aiming for an October completion, the Gigantor statue will stand 18 meters tall (roughly 5 stories) and cost around 135 million yen.

If I remember right, unlike the Gundam one, Gigantor is a permanent statues.

I'm surprised they haven't made a giant Mario statue yet.

Funny, I used to know a guy who looked just like that but his name was Tetsujin -- I must be thinking of someone else.
