More Awards! Ponyo, Bakemonogatari, and Detective Conan

Blu-Ray releases in Japan are certainly doing well.

anime!anime! reports that the DEG (Digital Entertainment Group) of Japan has announced their winners for the Blu-Ray Awards, which are releases that make the best use of Blu-Ray's technology.

Grand Prix Award: Gake no Ue no Ponyo
Best Interaction Award: Detective Conan: Shikkoku no Tsuisekisha
Users Choice Award: Bakemonogatari

Ponyo and Evangelion 1.11: You Are (Not) Alone were both noinated for Best Video Quality but unfortunately lost out to Monsters, Inc. and Akira lost out in Best Audio Quality to WALL-E. Still, though, this makes me even more excited for the upcoming Blu-Ray release of Ponyo, due out March 2nd! (It's also currently on sale at Amazon for $24.99, where MSRP is $39.99, just for the record.)

A few other interesting notes: best high-def went to, if you can imagine, the BD release of Braveheart, and Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai also took home a Judge's Special Award.

I bet it also gets a few of you excited for the possibilities of a Bakemonogatari license-- don't worry, it'll happen. Sooner or later. Right? Riiiiiight?

I am pretty curious as to what is so interactive about the Detective Conan Blu-Ray. The real manga already has this sense of interaction. Since it give you an opportunity to try and solve the cases before the solution is presented.
Is there something added to the Blu-Ray, or are they just commenting on well done controls and options?

Well, we will never find out in the US.

I believe the acceptance speech went like this.

Also yes Bakemonogatari license would be awesome.
