Anyway, the dub cast returns. If you're too lazy to watch, that's:
- Wendee Lee - Haruhi Suzumiya
- Crispin Freeman - Kyon
- Stephanie Sheh - Mikuru Asahina
- Michelle Ruff - Yuki Nagato
- Johnny Yong Bosch - Itsuki Koizumi
It also sounds like they'll be re-recording each Endless Eight episode separately*. Now, I have generally hard that when a voice actor records for an English anime dub, they're supposed to give three solid readings for the line, so that the different takes can be spliced together for a relatively fluid-sounding dialogue. Let's assume that there are always a couple of duds, so each actor has to say each line maybe five times total.
Now multiply that times eight. Can you imagine saying the same line forty times?! Yeesh. (Okay, okay, odds are good there'll be some overlap, but still. Yowch.)
(* For the six or seven of you who don't know, Endless Eight is an arc in the second season of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya in which the same basic events take place multiple times; the eight episodes are nearly, but not quite, identical to one another.)
So, what do you think? Yay for the return of the dub cast, wish you were getting more Vee action, or don't care because you'll just listen to the Japanese version?

Cant wait to se the endless eight.... I still have to watch em.... in english....
cuz I watched them in japanese already.... and as a fan.... I just have to again....
I originally watched Haruhi in Japanesse, and about a week or so ago I saw a trailer of the English version...
I have to say that the english dub is really good! Haruhi's voice fits so well with the character...
Although that no Vee makes me sad.... I wish they'd have more ASOS episodes... it seems like one is coming out per month!
Ep. 2 is hilarious!!!! (After the credits!)
Was that another Yuki... or the same one just without glasses?
I can't wait for the 2nd Season...
Is there a box set for season 1?
hmmm... theres a box set out for S1 I have it
I'm sure if you look around enough you'll find it
Your looking for a big box with this on the back
I will say this news puts less doubt that season 2 would be released in the US. I won't be really sure until I see a release date or actually see the DVDs.
HONYAAAA~!
But anyway- I LOVE the Haruhi dub cast; Wendee Lee was the only one who took a while to grow on me, so I was one of the few who wouldn't have minded seeing Vee give the role a shot. But whatever!
Endless Eight is totally an exercise in repetition with VERY small variations for the animators, the audience, the characters, and for the voice actors! It's the little differences and all the effort that goes into each repetition that makes those episodes such an interesting experiment, and dare I say, such a fascinating work of art?
Can't wait....
Oh the fronts like a boring ass pic of Kyon, Haruhi and that blue giant thing...
Endless Eight was so well done that I am totally surprised!
I means sure I was totally angry at the fact that it took 8 episodes for the story to end, but as I was watching them I couldn't help but watch the next episode to see if I could find a difference between the next...
How I saw it was that we (the fans) watched that 8 times, when that was over I was relieved, but then I though... Oh god! Yuki went through it 15,532 times!
In the end I couldn't help but feel bad for her... and maybe that was the point!
I read in the internet that people were comparing it with Groundhog day but this was way better!
This should not be a surprise. The same happens for live-action dialogue.
Oh, and Haruhi Series Two is a no-go for me as they ruined the art style. ("Ruined" is putting it gently.)
YES! I can't wait to hear the dulcet tones of Crispin Freeman doing Kyon and Wendee Lee as Haruhi along with everyone else. I'm glad that the possibility of Christina Vee as Haruhi was just something they were teasing the fans about. That is something I do not want, it's not as bad as not having Crispin Freeman as Kyon but it would still suck.
