It appears that the rumors floating around the internets are true. According to the Los Angeles Times, the wonderful Hayao Miyazaki will make his first appearance at Comic-Con in San Diego this July. It states that he will be showing clips from Ponyo at the event; which would also mean that he will be talking about it as well (unless he was a total jerk and spirited himself away on top of Totoro.)
This is going to be his first trip to America, and what an eventful trip it’s going to be. He’s going to California to be presented the second annual "Berkeley Japan Prize for Lifetime Achievement"; which sounds more like a fake, made up award to get Miyazaki to come over to their school. It just so happens to take place the same weekend that Comic-Con takes place (July 23 to July 26.); funny how this all works out.
Miyazaki is a legend, so I recommend we all make use of his only trip over here because I doubt we will ever see him again. Who’s going to Comic-Con now?

@JohnnySake: Actually, SDCC has been selling a few newly-made-available passes on eBay.
I will be there! I am very excited, but I don't seriously hope I will snag his autograph or anything.
