Meet the Newest Village People: Ranka & Sheryl

Ranka's gonna stay at the Y-M-C-A.

Why, oh why, has no one managed to compile an AMV of Ranka doing the YMCA? Her arms spread in the "nyan nyan" dance would be a great start-- and her construction-worker look is perfect for the Village People, too. She does look darling in those big fat steel-toed boots, but I kinda wish she was wearing the hat.

Aesthetically speaking, I like Sheryls' top half better than Ranka's, and not just because of all those delicious curves-- I totally dig that buckle bustier, and the red flamey thing in her hair. I'm not totally digging the almost-not-even-there shorts (I call shenanigans; those things wouldn't stay up and you'd be seeing her naughty bits if they were that low anyway).

But down to those overly-long legs (and yes, they are insanely overly-long), I dig the ribbons, and what appears to be a flame tattoo on her outer thigh? Yum.

Each of these figures is due out in February and has an SRP of ¥6800 (about $76 USD). I'm not sure I'd pay that much for either-- Sheryl's face could use a little more definition, and Ranka's isn't as vibrant as it can be --but if I saw them at a good sale price I'd think about it. How about you?

No offense to anyone who likes them, but personally I think the clothing choices on these figures look like trash.

@HeeroYuy: I'm imagining Ranka's as a promo event kinda thing-- like, you know how at truck shows and stuff, they have bikini booth babes? That's what I imagine for that outfit. Sheryl's could be a concert or other performance outfit, but I definitely think they could have done something better than the super-short-shorts. Or maybe even put a little catsuit under it, like this:

@HeeroYuy: I agree about Ranka's outfit. I like Sheryl's outfit; I could see it as a flashy, skimpy concert costume. There's no excuse for Ranka to be dressed in a skimpy (read: skanky) bikini.
 
I like Ranka's facial expression, but Sheryl's could use more definition. I like the idea of Ranka doing the YMCA. If there figures of all the main Macross F characters, you could pose them all in formation. $76 is pretty steep for each of the figures though.

@gia: See, that looks great. The current figure though just seems over exposed... it's just not as pleasing to the eye. My opinion of Ranka's figure though is basically the same as Lan's.
