Mayoi Neko Overrun: One Director? Try Twelve

Too many cooks in the kitchen?

In a nutshell, the series Mayoi Neko Overrun is about strays, and the people who love them. An adopted brother and his romantically interested sister live together, and care for several strays. One of which, is a "stray girl..." As should be obvious, hijinks ensue.

While I won't call the premise original, I'll say that there is something notable about Mayoi Neko Overrun's direction. Well, by direction, I mean directions... 12 of them to be exact. Yep, the 12 episode series has a different director for every episode. However generic the series turns out to be, I have to admit I'm curious to see how the styles vary director to director.

It would be interest if it wasn't the fact that the characters are so stereotypic and very annoying.

Wow a different detector for each episode. This could turn out interesting.

This indeed could be interesting. Yes the story is typical but it's mostly fun to watch as some of the characters are taking on modern ideas (like the guy who talks about 2D and 3D girls). This anime ranks 10th in my Spring 2010 list and I'll watch it til the end. Meow.

So wait, what does it mean by a different director for each episode? I take it, since it's worth mentioning, that it means more than just 12 different episode directors.

After watching 3 episode, the show still feel very generic.

I guess this means a couple episodes will stand out from the rest, but I can't see this being a particularly remarkable show regardless of the number of directors... Interesting, though.

Dig Deeper into Mayoi Neko Overrun!

Takumi lives with his sister, who is not his true sister, Otome. Otome makes confections for her shop, Stray Cats, and one day “adopts” a “stray cat”-- a girl named Nozomi.
