Good news for fans of award-nominated manga: Akiko Higashimura
's josei manga Kuragehime
is reportedly getting an anime adaptation
, to air on FujiTV's prominent Noitamina
time slot. Why am I so excited about this particular adaptation? Well, as some of you may remember...
Kuragehime revolves entirely around an apartment building whose only residents are female otaku, including fujoshi (yaoi fangirsl), NEETs, hikikomori, and all the usual suspects. With one exception, of course-- a delicious trap
I'm sure that some of you think it sounds like a bonus circle of hell, but to me it sounds like a lot of opportunity for some great humor. Female anime nerds are so often shunted into a two or three boxes of archetype (cosplayer/attention whore, yaoi fangirl, and remarkably normal girl who also happens to be a closet otaku) that I'm looking forward to the possibility of something a little different!
How about you?
