Kotaku --but I did notice something of interest...like, for example, that Tokyopop was listed amongst the "Special Thanks" section, which I eventually realized was probably due to the .hack//sign cardboard cutout that stood in the comic shop where some of Kickass's action took place.
Additionally, Kickass's would-be girlfriend Katie professes to not be such a huge fan of superheros, but she says she digs stuff "like Scott Pilgrim and Shojo Beat." Yeah! Take that, Comic Vine! (Just kidding.) In retrospect I should have checked the special thanks to see if VIZ was listed but it ran by before I could think about it.
Anyway, it's certainly no surprise that manga, particularly shoujo manga, might be seen as more female-friendly than your average superhero comic...although Katie does move on to some Spider-Man, at least, throughout the flick. Obviously I'd have kind of liked it if she'd gotten Kickass (alias Dave Lizewski) reading some Skip Beat or something by the end of it, but hey, the guy was a little busy taking out criminals or something.
Thought some of you might be amused by the references. And hey, if any of you caught anything I missed, by all means, share it in the comments.
