noted that among the upcoming exhibitions are two that will feature manga.
The first and most obvious is Drawing the Sword: Samurai in Manga and Anime. From the classic Lone Wolf and Cub to the more recent Afro Samurai, the exhibit will explore "the complex evolution of Japanese artistic traditions by demonstrating the ever-changing image of the iconic samurai."
Let me also note that among the titles mentioned is Wolverine-- I'm not sure if they're talking about American-made comics about Wolverine in Japan or perhaps the upcoming Wolverine anime, but in any case, this sounds like a really cool exhibit. It starts this Saturday (the 16th) and runs through May 2nd.
an exhibit on Batman, which starts January 30th and which features, in addition to all of the American-made Batman works, artist Jiro Kuwata's 1960s Batman manga, as shown in Chip Kidd's Bat-Manga! The Secret History of Batman in Japan. This exhibit will run until June.
Good times at the CAM! If you're in town you should definitely try to hit it up. I know I will!
