Lupin Escapes From Anime and Steals Real Life Statue

Not only did he steal the statue, but he also stole my heart.

It’s one thing for a character to escape from the land of 2D to go out and shake hands with fans, but another to actually go out and steal our 3D belongings; but then again we are dealing with Lupin the III, so I guess that is expected. Sometime after dawn on Monday, Lupin stole the 29-year-old Moyai Statue from Tokyo’s Shibuya train station. In the spot where the statue once stood is now a white canvas sign that reads “Thanks for the Moyai. Lupin Steal Japan steal-japan.jp”.

After doing some research I discovered that it just might not be Lupin himself that stole this statue, but a collaboration of three evil criminal organizations that joined forces, which would be NTV television network, TMS Entertainment anime studio, and Heiwa; I expected this from NHK, but I guess when conspiracies are involved you can’t expect anything. They possess a website called steal-japan.jp, which takes suggestions from fans on what objects Lupin should steal next.

What Lupin should steal next...
What Lupin should steal next...
So will Lupin return the statue, or is he going to keep it for himself? What will he steal next? The Statue of Liberty? Carmen Sandiego? China? Only you can decide!

@GodLen: Ahhh, but you didn't specify WHICH purse! I'm a purse girl (as opposed to a shoes girl), so I have a couple dozen!

@gia: Lupin has a special skill in finding which purse has the money in it. Kind of like a sixth sense

That is fucking awesome.  Maybe Lupin can kidnap me and I can become a thief with him and his gang.  That would be awesome.

I have all the DVDs movies and TV specails to Lupin that came out in the Us.  I love the Lupin the III shows.  I even used to watch it on adult Swim when they showed it on the air.

Dig Deeper into Lupin III

The world's greatest phantom thief. Lupin the 3rd is the eponymous protagonist of one of Japan's oldest adult-oriented (seinen) manga/anime series. Said to be the grandson of Arsène Lupin from the novels of Maurice Leblanc, he lives up to his name by being a world-renowned gentleman thief.
