Kristen Bell Loves 'Astro Boy'!

The 'Heroes' star discusses her role in the 3-D animated film

If you guys have ever seen Heroes , then I am positive you have seen Kristen Bell in action. The actress who has starred in Veronica Mars, Fanboys , and the popular tv show Heroes will

now be lending her voice to the highly anticipated film ' Astro Boy . ' Bell gave a few hints about the character she will be playing in an interview with Sci Fi Wire at last week's Saturn Awards.
"I play Cora, who is a girl who befriends Astro when he comes down from Metro City onto the surface of Earth,"..."She runs a little kind of like Peter Pan group of kids. She's pretty tough, pretty sassy....I've seen a lot of it [the movie], actually," Bell said. "It looks amazing. To be involved in the process is really exciting, because you see the layers that they put on, and you see when they don't have the 3-D involved and then when they do, and you see when it's just penciled out. It was a really interesting process."

Bell seems pretty excited about the film, and Astro Boy fans should be, too! The film, which will hit theaters on October 23rd, will be based on the manga which was written by Osamu Tezuka . Bell, who didn't know anything about Astro Boy prior to working on the animated film, quickly became a fan.
"I didn't know Astro Boy at all, but now I'm immersed and have all the little toys and stuff,"
Based on all the images I have seen so far, it does look really sweet, and I am really looking forward to seeing this movie this fall. Were you a fan of the manga? Are you looking forward to this film?

I`ve only read 1 chapter of Astro Boy (no not on the net but at the comic book store :3) but i did watch pretty much half of the 1980 series on the internet and all of the 2003 on BBC and i loved it :)

You know, I never thought about it that way. When making adaptations, you get people who are already fans of the work and people who may respect the work but are just there for the job. Never thought about the possibility of working on an adaptation making one become a fan and go buy all the stuff.

I wonder if she really became a fan or if she was just saying that O_o

I don't really know in her case, but the concept of an adaptation making one a fan is interesting.

Dig Deeper into Astro Boy

Astro Boy was created by Osamu Tezuka, the "Father of Manga". As the story goes, Astro Boy is a child robot made by Dr. Tenma to replace his dead son. Instead, he becomes the greatest superhero.
