Kotobukiya's Bishoujo Batgirl and Emma Frost

More comic-manga crossover!

Just as Wonder Festival 2010 ends, it's now time for Toy Fair, which will host an entirely different slew of toys and products, some of which will still be decidedly of interest to us here at Anime Vice.

Like these: Kotobukiya has been doing a line of bishoujo characters from the Marvel universe, including Psylocke, Scarlet Witch, and Rogue-- and soon, Emma Frost. I love Shunya Yamashita's designs for the line, but these figures haven't all been hits for me even when I dug the art they were based on (hi, Psylocke), so we'll see how she comes out.

But now Kotobukiya seems to be playing both sides with a new bishoujo D.C. line, and they'll be working with more than just Yamashita on this one. The first figure they'll be doing is of Batgirl, and all we get right now is a teaser image.

It seems like a pretty big weekend for these comic-Jpop culture crossovers, doesn't it? I mean, the Iron Man Kewpie thing, TokiDoki and Marvel shackin' up ...

The Emma art looks nice, but I'm more interested in Batgirl, I think.

Oh, I do like Emma Frost.

They done some comic book statues in a anime style in the passed and they didn't sell really well.

Here one of the statues.

@N15PCA: I had mixed feelings for the Psylocke statue, and I love Psylocke.

Oh man. As usual, I totally love the art (on Emma Frost at least,) though I question if the figures will be able to capture that.

@N15PCA:
still digging that figure. Not like in love, but I dig it.

Dig Deeper into Figures

A popular merchandise type in Japan is the "figure", which can be an action figure or a still figure, generally of an anime or manga character (although there are any number of original designs as well).
