Naruto #594 - The Progenitor
In a Nutshell
Naruto and friends talk about the power of hope and friendship while Tobi begins the resurrection of the Ten-Tails for his Human Instrumentality Proj... I mean Infinite Tsukuyomi.
High Points
- I love when they have close ups of Tobi's eyes and some how make his face look super sinister even though it's completely covered by a mask.
Low Points
- I just now realized how much of a rip-off Infinite Tsukuyomi is of the Human Instrumentality Project.
- Yay, I was starting to wonder where the chapter long monologues about the power of hope, love and friendship had gone to!
- More god-awful, trashcan quality raps from Killer Bee. Is it any surprise that the Wu-Tang Clan kicked this guy out before they made it big?
Rants and Raves
I like Tobi. Tobi has potential to be an interesting character and he usually is, but man oh man is Infinite Tsukuyomi a shameless knockoff. That wasn't too bad though. The real bummer was that, with the return of Naruto to the forefront of the series, god awful speeches about the power of love and friendship are flying left and right at a breakneck pace with no signs of slowing down. The Uchiha crew managing to keep all of that in check, but now we're back to the aspect of shonen that I hate the most and that this war has been soaked in. Additionally, monster vs monster fights are boring to me. Seeing a giant octopus and a fox fighting a statue or a ten tailed rat is not at all what I read and watch Naruto for.
Grade
I give this chapter a D++. Naruto had been so good for like well over a month in a row and now we're back to all the stuff that was making this one of the worst arcs in the entire series. It should be a flat ou D but I'm giving it the programmer's ++ because they suggested that next week may actually be Tobi vs Naruto... although they said that in the past and it took them all of two pages before it was a WCW style monster mash battle royale rather than two people going at it.

There's also the special manga chapter for the movie that was also released. you might want to look at it, was pretty good. now to hope the movie will come to the west...
I'm still predicting it will be revealed that Naruto's bloodline ability is to utilize the power of friendship. It's the only explanation for how he is able to accomplish anything when he isn't using the Fox chakra.
@Halberdierv2: The movie will definitely come to the West. The bad part is that it took them like 3-5 years after the JP home release to bring out Bonds to the US and they still have 3 more movies to go before they're even at a point where Road to Naruto would be next.
I don't think Viz has mentioned much of anything about a release date for the film after Bonds, but assuming they sneak it out this year and vow to release one movie a year to catch up, we're still talking 2015.
As for the special chapter... I'll have to check that out. I know that the anime is doing a Road to Sakura special next week that's probably got some relation to the upcoming film. It could be pretty good. When the last Bleach movie came out they did a special episode and it was actually pretty good.

LOL. While that wouldn't make me like the monologues the series constantly throws out about it, that would actually make a lot of sense. If the Will of Fire was actually some mysterious bloodline jutsu that allows you to tap into the chakra of anyone you have a close connection to... almost like how DBZ has that fireball thing that draws its power from anyone willing to provide it.
I didn't like this chapter, it just repeating the info that we already know or figure out. Also I normally able to stand a friendship monologue, but this just got on my nerves (cause nothing really happen). Man, now I wish Sasuke come back (not really)
This what basically the chapter was for me

I didn't like it either. The whole time I was waiting for something to happen.
@sickVisionz: Say I want to know about Sasuke and oro's adventure with a history of the Uzumaki Clan's relation to the Sage and what the Ten-tails look like.
@Toxin45: Huh? Are you asking me or telling me?
@sickVisionz: asking
@Toxin45: Still confused. Were you asking and to whom?
@sickVisionz: you and on Naruto wikia their not sure
