KissxSis is Exactly What it Sounds Like

Dirty pseudo-incest manga gets TV and another OVA-- time to celebrate!

So word has come out lately that not only is the manga Kiss x Sis getting a new fourth OVA release, it's also getting a TV anime-- in spite of being a pretty dirty little comedy.

The story revolves around a young man named Keita Suminoe, a third-year junior high student who's getting ready to start his exams to get into high school, but he keeps getting distracted. See, he has these two stepsisters-- twins, and slightly older than Keita himself. The two girls, Ako and Riko, have a naughty habit of kissing, fondling, flashing, and otherwise flirting with their stepbrother, who is at first disgusted with himself but eventually he grows to have feelings for them, which oddly enough their parents encourage.

So you could think of it as an ecchi seinen take on Marmalade Boy but with twins. It was created by Bow Ditama, whose name you may recognize as the guy who created the original manga of another ecchi comedy (and one I'm quite fond of), Mahoromatic, as well as the more recent Fight Ippatsu! Juuden-chan!!, also known as "that peeing anime on Crunchyroll." If that tells you anything about Ditama's style. I couldn't find a trailer for the OVAs or anything, but I did find this very brief little AMV, if you'd like to see some more of the visual style.

Right-o then, the TV series was announced last week and is currently set to air in the spring, while the fourth OVA was announced today and will be released with volume 6 of the manga this June.

@AjayRaz: Stay tuned. With any luck, Crunchyroll will get to air it when it comes out :)

@gia: you have just made me scream with joy. here's hoping to that :D

I've read a bit of this manga (up to chapter 17), and frankly it needs to just be an ero manga now... (as in actually showing the naughty bits).  It's gotten pretty extreme. (hot springs scenes like no other.)

Hopefully CR won't censor it... else, I may as well cancel my sub.

Also, digging the new look of the site.  You guys have really began rampin up.

I love this manga/anime. I started reading it when it first came out i've been hooked ever since lol
Pyroon Nov. 20, 2009 at 3:58 p.m.
The more I think about it... will they even be able to do the series justice with an anime?  I mean, how many made for TV anime have had oral sex? o_O;

I mean there ARE shows like Queen's Blade... but in some ways, this anime would be more extreme.
giaon Nov. 20, 2009 at 4:01 p.m.
@Pyro: Well, bear in mind that Crunchyroll doesn't really "censor" anything themselves. Basically they air the version of the episode they get from TV Tokyo (or whoever the licensor is), and if the version they get is the censored version, so be it. If you feel that's not worth your subscription money, of course, that's fine, but if it's to protest something Crunchyroll is doing, it's probably not going to have the effect you want :)

Echhi?  Comedy?  Count me in.  :P

@gia: Gotcha, then I guess I'll have to write angry letters in Japanese to TV Tokyo!

Actually, the recent trend in anime where they censor the TV version to spike the uncensored DVD sales has really been bugging me.  I figure the same will happen with this show.

@rein: ROFL That describes the series perfectly.

I watch all 3 OVA and oh god, how the hell they can turn this into a TV series. The OVA are very but very Ecchi.
Konandaon Nov. 20, 2009 at 5:49 p.m.

Cool although I'll pass when it comes to romantic or ecchi comedies in anime I prefer stuff more like Seto no Hanayome watching episode 10 I almost lost my voice laughing at the end, while watching it with some friends. Lunar's papa = win.

Am I the only one who was disappointed to learn that this wasn't about 2 sisters kissing?
giaon Nov. 20, 2009 at 6:40 p.m.
@Pyro: Well, y I suspect that they're not censoring much more than they normally would have, they're just making a more risque regular version. So what you're getting on TV probably isn't a lot less than you normally would, they're just offering a lot more on DVD. So while I can see the definite marketing ploy, it also doesn't really bother me much.

@Chibi_Kaji: No.
Pyroon Nov. 20, 2009 at 6:55 p.m.
@Chibi_Kaji: Well the series isn't over yet, so one could hope. :3

From what I've seen The staff really tend to shy away from stuff like kissXsis (ecchi/smut) , I'm not surprised that it hasn't had a write up yet.
