So, its official. Get your keyblades polished, and dust off your PSPs, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep is coming to North America "this summer." Being a prequel to the existing games, expect it to make almost no sense, yet be incredibly familiar.
Despite being the English dub having been accidentally twittered about, this is the first major address Square Enix has made regarding an English product. Though, in an attempt to display something cool, I've attached the Deep Dive video that sets up the game. Additional information about the gameplay can be found here.Story
Long before Sora was chosen by his Keyblade, the worlds' safety lay in the hands of Keyblade Masters. Three youths — Terra, Ventus, and Aqua — have been training long and hard under Master Eraqus to prove that they, too, exhibit the Mark of Mastery. But they will soon find themselves in the middle of a crisis affecting worlds far beyond their own—just as another Keyblade Master, Xehanort, goes mysteriously missing.
Three friends, three destinies. Everything will link back to the beginning.

I'm excited!!!
I have to say that the graphics for this game look really good even though it's made for PSP..
I have seen some spoilers ont what the story is about and I have to say it's the best games so far!
Thanks John for posting this!
I originally bought a PSP just so I could play this game... but I bought it a year ago. Only game I ever bought for PSP was Crisis Core: Final Fantasy, other than that I have used my PSP as an MP3 player...
Sadly now that there is finally news on KH: Birth by Sleep... The port on my PSP works no more! T_T
@Addfwyn: Me? No! What ameks you say that!
nope, but this will do as a nice holdover until that time.
They should also make it so you can't cheese your way through every single boss battle without getting hit by stocking up on Ethers and spamming Shoot Locks, but somehow I doubt they'll fix that. Limit Breaks and the like have always been easily abused in the KH series. In fact, in 358/2 Days you were pretty much forced to spam Limit Breaks otherwise bosses would take way too long.
No you are not but given that the division of Square-Enix that works on the Kingdom Hearts series is also one of the Final Fantasy divisions and the one that released FFXIII and is currently still working on the other two Fabula Nova Crystallis games (FF Versus XIII and FF Agito XIII) and Tetsuya Nomura (he's the character designer responsible for all the anime hair, belts and zippers that have become Final Fantasy staples ever since VII [which is when he took over as character designer from Yoshitaka Amano]) I assume is still working on FF Versus XIII somewhat. (he's the director on that game, which I hear is like Kingdom Hearts except darker but without Disney characters and Nomura's dark hooded guys gothing around) It may be Square's biggest division in terms of the number of staff and probably different teams in it but they still only have so many people to work on products.
Although I read somewhere that in a Famitsu interview with Nomura that he's working on an unanounced Kingdom Hearts title that is supposed to be released sometime in 2011 (they hope to pump a Kingdom Hearts game out once a year or so) that will focus on Sora and some other character important to the series and apparently there is a teaser for it in the secret ending to Birth by Sleep. He never said it's Kingdom Hearts III but if it goes back to focusing on Sora I'm guessing it is. So I guess you'll have to beat the game and get the secret ending to see what it teases.
It'll be great when it happens. So far I'm loving FFXIII enough that I'm super excited for Versus and Agito, but I still want my KH itch scratched. Easily my second favorite Square series (though FF is kinda cheating, since they aren't contiguous) Though, I think the World Ends With You was probably the most "daringly new" game I've seen them put out in, like, a decade.
CANT WAIT....I pre-ordered the psp and the game...two more days.....mwhahahaha
I know...if only they stuck to one system and just made games for that....it would've made life easier.
