Japan's Latest Sexy New Robot

"Geminoid" sounds like some kind of weird B-grade horror flick. BEWARE THE GEMINOID!

Well, "sexy" might be jumping the gun a little, but Pink Tentacle spotted this recent video of a new robot called Geminoid F, a "female" robot whose appearance was based on an actual woman in her twenties (I don't believe it's someone famous). Apparently the android is supposed to duplicate the facial expressions and speech of whoever's running it in the background-- think of it as an avatar, but less...blue. And less tall. And less cat-like. And considerably less smooth-moving.

Yes, robots still have a way to go before they really completely mimic human movement, but they're starting to get at least as realistic as the better caliber of Dutch Wife. And we all know that's where we're going with this, right?

(On a more serious note, I just finished Pluto last night, and an unfortunate side effect is that I find myself looking forward to realistic robots. Uh-oh!)

Sweet, normally these things all have that uncanny valley look that makes them all freaky and less sexy, but this one actually looks like an attractive young girl. Until it tries too move anyway. Still though, i cant wait for the day that i can buy a robot look alike of my favorite sexy lady so that i can dress her up in some sexy cosplay and stick my peni...i mean have it lift heavy boxes as well as cook and clean for me. If anime has taught me anything it's taught me that when you find a sexy naked robot lady and bring it home the last thing you want to do is make sexy with it. I mean who would ever want to do that?

Pluto is so good, I'm 5 volumes in.

Why do I have a sense that we'll have a Pierce Brosnan robot incident like on the Simpsons  :)

@Nerx: I'm rather fond of Uran, actually, but that might just be the girl in me.

@gia: LoL I resent that! Dutch ladies aren`t huggable at all! its like trying to hug a cactus with rabies >_>
giaon April 5, 2010 at 4:59 p.m.
@Kelleth: Are you talking about actual women from the Netherlands? 'Cause I'm talking about these. (Some of them are better looking than others.)
Kelleth moderator on April 5, 2010 at 6:07 p.m.
@gia:  I knew that you where talking about those i just commented on the weird name ^^

Uran did held some warm moments with Pluto but my female role goes to Epsilon , and if you think this robot is good then you should check out the Actroid

Scary much?

Uncanny valley~

Oh, Pluto is fantastic.  I know absolutely nothing about the "Astro Boy" franchise but I love Urasawa.  It is interesting to see Tezuka's influences on Monster (especially "MW", which is pretty decent).
Nerxon April 6, 2010 at 8:16 a.m.
@Sand: MW is quite a fun read actually seeing Yuki go wild on the innocents
Zenaxzdon April 6, 2010 at 11:20 a.m.
Well at least that robot is less scary than the last sex-robot a friend sent me a picture of... ugh the nightmares.

@Nerx:  I dug Epsilon personally.
