James Marsters: Dragonball Fan?

Sci Fi gets their interview on with Piccolo actor James Marsters.

The Sci Fi Wire got to interview James Marsters about his role as Piccolo in Dragonball Evolution, and at the forefront of the interview is Marsters' own fandom when it comes to Toriyama's manga-- apparently he was introduced to it by his son some years back. (He also grew up as a Star Trek fan, although he doesn't go so far as to call himself a Trekkie.)

Before you go thinking that it's just a ploy, check out the interview. When asked what Marsters hopes they do in sequels-- and he mentions he's signed on for three pictures and hopes that they really do all get made –he offers the perfect fan response: he wants the movies to go back and pick up the original Dragon Ball Z story where Goku “dies” and leaves his son, seven-year-old Gohan, as the only Saiyan left to protect the earth...and Gohan goes to Piccolo for help.

I think some of us, too, would like to see that film, Mr. Marsters-- if it could be done in a way that seems less...how shall I put it...awful than so much of Evolution has seemed so far.
