Aya Hirano in Malaysia
Aya Hirano in Malaysia
Seiyuu Aya Hirano-- who shot to stardom by voicing the title character in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya in 2006, and followed it up with Konata in Lucky Star –has apparently been globe-trotting, specifically in Malaysia. Apparently Malaysia has otaku as crazy as Japan and the US, or maybe even worse; Aya posted photos from her hotel, which led Malaysian fans to try and hunt her down.

Apparently such lofty sentiments as “i dont mind being prisoned if i could grab her butt/whatever” have been expressed. And we're not talking like, one or two crazies who got together and spent hours on Google Maps trying to work this out; apparently entire search parties were formed. (Best comment on Sankaku Complex suggests that if the USA had been half as motivated to find Bin Laden, we'da got him.)

I have to say though, she does look really nice in Malaysian attire.

Void_Wizard: But Aya is sort of a niche figure still (in spite of her attempts to be more mainstream via her album and whatnot; I've always had the impression-- perhaps incorrect? --that she wasn't as big with the non-otaku audience), and she was in a foreign country @_@
