As a result of our wiki task queue initiative, In two weeks we had 6539 captions added to our image galleries. That's over 500 captions added per day! Why is this important? Well captions help tell search engines what an image is about. Then when people search for "dragon ball bulma fanart" we get listed in the results. Try it, Anime Vice shows up in the first page of Google search results -- for me image 2 and 3 are from Anime Vice.
FInally, check out the graph below. The blue line is the last 30 days and the green line is the 30 days before that. Both lines represent the amount of people Google image search sent to Anime Vice. Around January 31 you can see the blue line go up and up and up. It ends at 3,000 visits per day compared to 2000 per day for the green line. That's 50% growth.

I don't know for sure if the new captions added to the images help us grow our google search traffic. But hey let's see if we can make that blue line go up to 4000 over the next month. If you want to add some descriptive captions head over to our TASK QUEUE.
[UPDATE] Hey guys PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not just caption the image with the characters name. That adds no value. I can do that with code since the image is already attached to the character.
Make the captions descriptive. Like "Yoko holding a gun" or "Princess flying Voltron". Not to bum anyone out, but this is the type of captions that don't help: http://www.animevice.com/hakufu-sonsaku/18-17743/images/

Also to all users reading this, I wouldn't bother including the word "fan art" in a caption when the image is already in the fan art gallery. The only time I do that is for official art because sometimes official art isn't that easy to distinguish from screen caps and stuff (somebody actually captioned some official art as screen caps because they didn't look very closely first).
But anyway, those are some pretty impressive stats, thanks for the update Ethan.
Also, "fanart" is a big search term, so I'd be more lenient with that one even though it may seem a little redundant.
All right I guess I'll leave the captions with the word "fanart" in them alone for now. It's a shame we don't have some sort of tagging system (like image sites running on danbooru and the like) captions can get really long which makes it A. impossible to read them without going on the images and B. harder to edit the captions.
Well, I can' t speak for Anime Vice, but I discovered Comic Vine when i was doing a Google image search for Ruby Summers. I checked the site out, I enjoyed the articles and videos for a few weeks, and joined. It was nice talking and discussing the articles. It was later that I learned about Anime Vice and joined that.
Though, lately I've been feeling my comments haven't been too welcome on Comic Vine. The ones concerning my thoughts on Spider-man comics.
I already took care of the Nami and Misty image galleries. I'll take care of a few more later.

ALSO, make sure you're captions are descriptive of the image. Don't just type in the character name, I can do that with code. Sorry, but these captions are not helpful in identifying what the image is about: http://www.animevice.com/hakufu-sonsaku/18-17743/images/
