iCosplay, Do You?

This cute app has flaws, but for $0.99 you might overlook 'em.

I had to borrow Tony's iPhone for this feature, but I got a press release today about an iPhone application called iCosplay. It's not quite the app I expected-- I'm surprised no one has created an app for Cosplay.com yet; most of hte Cosplay apps out there are just collections of hot cosplayers. Instead the app functions not entirely unlike the Evangelion Stamp application from earlier this year, in which you could add things to your photos to make you look like a badass EVA pilot or Gendo.

In this case, however, the app is focused on making you look like a cartoony cosplayer. I played with the program and it's pretty fun; there's a selection of hair, eyes, and other props that you can tack onto a picture and resize or rotate to make it fit your victim. You can also resize and rotate the photo itself. Oh, and you can take a photo within the program, or you can pull a photo from the phone's library. The art is really cute and clean, it's great work.
Now, I'm not an advanced iPhone user, so this might be more my fumbly fingers than the app itself, but I had a lot of trouble resizing things that started out kind of small (like the sweatdrop, which I never managed to resize), and I also frequently had a problem where it would think I was trying to resize/rotate my picture instead of the prop I was working with, which was pretty irritating.

Still, for a $0.99 app, I thought it had some cute potential, if you wanted to make over everyone in your contacts list some day. You know, when you're stuck in class, or in line for the cosplay contest at a con or whatever. You can get the app here, and here are all of the screencaps I took!

I wish I had an iPhone.  :(  Speaking of iPhones @gia: Have you guys thought about making an Anime Vice app similar to the Giant Bomb one?

@JJOR64: I'd like to have one (not that I have an iPhone to use it with), but I understand GB's doesn't really get downloaded all that much, so I'd be surprised if it came about any time soon :)

@gia: I see.  So I guess you guys are SOL about people downloading it then.  That's a bummer.  :(
