I Went to FUNimation and All I Got Were These Cool Announcements

FUNimation gets set to release mech series Linebarrels of Iron and fanservice fantasy Strike Witches!

I apologize that I'm having to use YouTube to share this video with you guys, but I think you'll forgive me in the end, because I come bearing awesome news! When I visited FUNimation earlier this week (Tuesday, not yesterday as the video states-- did I mention we've had a couple of video problems backstage?), I was given a couple of really awesome announcements to share with you!

For those of you who can't watch the video to get the news yourself, the announcements are that FUNimation is releaseing both Linebarrels of Iron and Strike Witches! You probably won't be too surprised since FUNi has a deal to basically auto-license Gonzo titles, but I figured you might want to know that they're hard at work on these two even as we speak. Unfortunately the cast and release information can't be shared yet (and no, I don't know it either, so don't ask!), but I'm sure more will be revealed in short order.

Thanks again to FUNimation for being such amazing hosts! Oh, and video of the office is also pending, so stick around!

I'm interested to see what the deal is with Strike Witches and I never really got into Linebarrels of Iron when I watched it on CR but I may have to check it out again.

Both series are decent fun watches, and not surprising licenses as well. It's still nice. :P

I liked the first few eps of Linebarrels, but I haven't gotten past that. I hear it has a crappy ending though.

I saw a little bit of the Linebarrels manga, and it just didn't appeal to me. Maybe it was the translation, but the teenaged male lead came off as a gigantic asshole. Might be a step above Shinji, but still someone I wanted to punch in the face every time he opened his mouth.

The fight scenes were kinda cool, though.

gia: You're wrong. Linebarrels was not the series on the Playstation network.  That was X'amd.  Linebarrels was streamed on crunchyroll and youtube by gonzo as it aired.

umm... What more can I say, I guess it's good for Funimation.

....Funimation....why are you wasting your money on Kurogane...

I mean, as much as I hate Strike Witches and know it's a giant turd, I realize there are people out there nuts over it that will buy it so I can see why you'd get that, but why the heck would you guys get Kurogane?!

There's no way in the world they won't release a uncensored version. lol They are releasing dvds that will be uncensored they don't censor any anime anymore.

Heero: I have no idea if Linebarrels is one of these shows, but it's perfectly common for companies to have to license some B- or C-ranked series in order to get the A-list show they want. It's true in manga as well.
