So, you want to meet Alucard voice actor Crispin Freeman , eh? Well, lucky Los Angeles residents will get a chance thanks to a new MeetUp event : Soul Geek. The first meetup is being hosted July 11th at the 10 Forward Coffee & Tea Lounge in Hollywood, and actualy features a couple of special guests: Battlestar Galactica's Richard Hatch, and anime voice acting superstar Crispin Freeman. The event will feature a costume contest and geek speed-dating.
Frankly, I can't help but think it's a bad idea to have Freeman host an event focused on getting geeks together; through my interactions with Freeman I am convinced that all the female attendees will be more interested in him than in their speed-dating partners. Unless maybe he's taking part, too? I dunno.
Would you guys attend a SoulGeek meetup, if such an event were local to you, out of curiosity? Not necessarily for 'dating' purposes, but even just to make some new friends? Most of my current social circle in Portland is actually owed to a LiveJournal meetup (hey, don't look at me like that-- I got stuck with running the damn thing), so I guess I can vouch that they can be fun, at least.
