Hipira-kun to be an Anime

Shota vampire show to air the 21st of December!

Not all vampires are monsters or teenage sex stars, some of them are little boys just trying to go on adventures, like Hipira-kun. You can experience this adventure with him on the 21st of December, because he will be hitting Japanese televisions as an anime. For you see, this anime will be an adaptation of Katsuhiro Otomo and Shinji Kimura’s Hipira: The Little Vampire picture book. This is great, because it is not often that we get to see an adaption of a picture book.
We have some heavy hitters working on this anime adaption, Otomo himself was the creator of Akira, as well as Steamboy, and Memories. The artist of Hipira-kun, Kimura also worked Akira, Angel’s Egg and Steamboy. This will be produced by Sunrise, and will run for five consecutive days.

Seeing how there are so many talented people working on this, and that it is based off of a picture book, this has to be good. Dark Horse Comics published this comic here in America, so pick it up if you have the chance. Twilight killer? It just might be!

Wow looks cute. Once i saw that one of the directors who worked on memories was involved i wanted to watch it even more. *inserts shameless self plug here* As you can read in my review of Memories that has been featured on the front page for awhile now, the guy can make one hell of a deep and interesting story. I will be interested to see how this plays out given his previous works being such classics, and having such deep and layered meanings in almost every frame of animation.

"teenage sex stars" That's a vaguely disturbing combination of words. Seems rather Tim Burton-equse.
