Happy V-Day: Adult Swim to Give Anime Present

Maybe Adult Swim doesn't hate anime fans so much after all!

A quick update on Adult Swim's anime plans-- of the three new anime they say they've picked up, the first one will start airing on Valentine's Day-- at 12am on February 14th (as in, one minute after 11:59pm on February 13th), the new anime will air, according to their current schedule.

We've speculated a lot on what titles it'll be-- a lot of people agree that Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and InuYasha The Final Act are the obvious choices, but on the other hand, are they being dubbed quick enough to air in February? Or are those the later two anime, and this third one something else? It's going to air at least through April...

Hmm...April is when Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan comes out with its new English dub. Could that actually be it, or is my half-joking speculation skewing my brain?

I hope it's an awesome anime that no one will expect.  Gurren Lagann?  Pokemon?  (jk)

04:30 a.m.     Big O

It would appear that its an all anime Saturday once again! And there was much rejoicing!

This doesn't mean a lot to me. I haven't watched [adult swim] in over a year. When Code Geass was on it's very first airing in the US. I believe it was on at 11:30. At about episode 18 they pushed it to one showing at 5AM. They really expected me to stay up till 5AM to watch that. In it's place they put in some of their crappy self produced cartoons, such as Squidbillies.

They openly express hostility toward anime. Why watch anything they offer when there are other places to get the anime?

@JJOR64:
I seriously doubt it would be Gurren Lagann. SciFi Channel was showing that one.

@FoxxFireArt: I was just taking a wild guess.  At least Gurren Lagann is on TV somewhere so that's good.

Do Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and InuYasha The Final Act have a eng dub all ready?

@FoxxFireArt: I guess you don't own a DVR or Tivo of any kind?

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Adult Swim use to show InuYasha?
giaon Jan. 19, 2010 at 7:42 p.m.
@N15PCA: There's no confirmation of such, but it's not impossible either, especially if either of them is NOT starting in February.

@sora_thekey: The original, yes; presumably they'd need a new license to show the new season.

New season... I am way behind on InuYasha.. what do you mean?
giaon Jan. 19, 2010 at 8:33 p.m.
@sora_thekey: Ahh...well, they stopped animating InuYasha for a while, Rumiko Takahashi finished the manga, and now they're animating the end in a second series titled InuYasha The Final Act. :)

@gia: Oh! see I saw the last episode which was said to be the last but when it ended it said... be sure to watch the movie that ends the series... SO I thought the series was over by now...

Does this mean that the episode I saw wasn't the last one?
WillyFourEyeson Jan. 20, 2010 at 4:52 a.m.
@sora_thekey: Most likely, yes.

I'm in agreement that the "new mystery anime" to be aired at 12 PM on V-Day can't be FMA Brotherhood of Inuyasha Final, but don't know what other possibilities there might be.

Well, they did "end" it, so yes, you did see the last episode of "InuYasha," but now, years later, they decided to create a new work to finish out the plot.

Its actually amusing because they cover like, 15+ volumes (if I remember correctly) across 26 episodes, which plays with my knowledge of how InuYasha stretches content like no one's business

OK I understand now so technically this a totally new series following the old InuYasha.... ok I understand now thanks!

@sora_thekey: Any time! It's what I'm here for :)
darklordmykeon Jan. 27, 2010 at 5:18 p.m.
My thought because I do believe for sure, Inuyasha: The Final Act and Fullmetal Alchemist: The Brotherhood will be 2 of them the 3rd candidate will either be D. Gray Man or Soul Eater... My vote being Soul Eater!!! I know they have finished dubbing for a little of Soul Eater and have definitely dubbed at least 39 episodes of D. Gray Man
lanaswifton Jan. 28, 2010 at 3:32 p.m.
@Oneesama: I could probably see Soul Eater over D.Gray-Man. Adult Swim definitely goes more for that "cool" aesthetic than the slightly more frilly gothic style of D.Gray-Man.
