So, I was following my morning ritual of pancakes and newspaper ads, the Macy's Parade on in the background... when lo and behold... the Mach 5 comes whizzing up. Well, by whizzing I mean driving at 2 miles per hour, while some dweeb waves energetically... BUT IT WAS COOL.
The best part, one of the reporters seemed even slightly amused by this, and reflected on how cool the old show was. So much so they didn't even mention Speed Racer: The Next Generation, which I'm sure is why it was actually there. I can't find any pictures of it, and it wasn't that exciting, but it was a really cool looking car, because.. duh, it was the Mach 5.
That said, I was just happy for the nerd icon Speed Racer to invade easily one of the most "American" festivities all year. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. I'd love to see some chocobos or prinnys next year.

me too, but i wonder what the specs of this mach 5 is.
Also, the Towson University marching band (of Cowboy Bebop YouTube fame) was there right before the Smurf. If you missed them, it's because somebody at NBC messed up and typed high school. Jerks.
