While he deserves to have statues built to how awesomely otaku he is, Dan is in fact the man, and you need to know it. Dan traveled all the way from western Massachusetts to San Francisco just to see this movie. I don't use the word "just" lightly. He skipped classes, packed a bag, and flew almost 3,000 miles (6k both ways) just to see this movie, by himself. But he wasn't by himself, he had us.
That dude is amazing. For whatever reason I immediately became his fanboy and had to make sure everybody knew that his fandom for the series far, far, far outstretched theirs. OMG though, the movies... if someone doesn't start distributing the movie in the US I am totally gonna start spoiling things.

It was a blast watching both movies with you guys!
@Newten: You could always start watching Gurren Lagann with us. It's only 20-25 minutes a day! :)
While I feel the first one did a great job of polishing edges and bumping though more directorial shots/themes, but like with the second movie (especially with the second movie) without the frame work for what actually happened, any amount of "bigger" or "better" might just be seen as excessive.
Unrelated to that note: How is Clannad After Story? I just picked up the sub DVD that Sentai Filmworks picked up, but I haven't seen it yet. I've heard its sad, is it sad?
@Drillin_dan: DANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
@John_Martone: Oh no I have no intention of starting with the movies, I'm actually pretty fussy with anime and, well tv shows and anything else, I always start from the beginning. And I'm sure I won't be dissapointed when I start watching it :)
After Story picks up where Clannad left off, so if you liked Clannad it is pretty much more of that. I haven't got that far into it, I'm on episode 4 now, there are sad parts, just like there were in the first series, but I definitely haven't been dissapointed so far! I'm loving it ^^ Watch it :D
I would LOVE. LOVE. LOVE! to host Captain Tylor as a daily thing. Man, that show is great.
Not to get on the Viz Pictures movie schedule, but they totally could have skipped a saturday and sunday showing of Sad Vacation. The so-so looking live action that they're doing for like, 2 1/2 weeks.
