God Len in Famitsu!

American otaku represent!

Otaku USA and japanese video game magazine Famitsu have a very special relationship at the moment. Famitsu has a new Foreign Otaku column that they run which covers the crazy and zany things otaku outside of Japan do. In the latest issue, they covered food, more specifically Otaku food. Our job was to name our favorite Otaku food, be it Pocky, sushi, that crazy pudding dessert all anime girls are extremely possessive over, or other things of that nature. Those otaku who shared their eating habits to the whole of Japan are as follows: Daryl Surat, Erin Finnegan, Ed Chavez, Patrick Macias, Darius Washington, Zac Bentz, Joseph Luster, and yours truly GOD LEN. You can check out a high resolution picture here.

I’m not sure what everyone else wrote for their favorite food, but I can definitely tell you mine. Udon: Udon is my otaku fuel. It provides me with enough energy to do all the things any real otaku normally does; like shout a special attack as loud as possible, or "hug" my Rei body pillow. Second is hot tea and whiskey: I will drink anything that will make me more like Yang Wen-li.

So I’m extremely happy to be part of this program, and hope this article will be read by my future Japanese wife. Enough about me though, what’s your favorite otaku food.

@HeeroYuy: It's really stupid, but it was a character from a short story I wrote in a silly writing class.

I'm generally fond of Pocky, particularly homemade pocky. Other than that, there isn't a particular "Otaku" food I like more than any other. That said, my home town has several Teriyaki restauraunts I eat at with a moderate degree of regularity (none of which are part of national chains). There's also a Sushi-Trak in town, and I haven't eaten there yet, though I've been considering it off and on for a few years. I'm kind of worried about the price though.

That's cool you were covered in that magazine. I haven't had Udon noodles.
I do eat ramen from time to time. Though I always cook chicken or pork with green onions to put in it. I also make fried rice and I add home made fried chicken or shrimp.

I actually make candy sushi every Halloween. I actually plan to draw something to instruct others on how to make it.

That Udon looks delicious. Maybe, I'm showing my Asianess when I say I love noodle soups!
