Sad news for all of you who are football fans out there. Riichirou Inagaki and Yuusuke Murata’s football manga Eyeshield 21 will end its seven-year run on Monday, 6/22. I say it’s sad news, but it really isn’t. Every manga needs to end, and even though Eyeshield had a long run (and maybe should of ended awhile ago), its time has come. It has spawned an anime, videogames, and has been brought over to America; not too shabby for a sports manga.

I haven’t gotten this far in the manga yet, but from the looks of it the manga is wrapping up without leaving any cliffhangers; though what I don’t know is if it’s wrapping up ‘nicely’. I enjoyed Eyeshield 21, it had some great characters, it was actually funny, and it portrayed a subject not often found in anime/manga. Don’t ignore it if you hate football; because I still am no fan of the game, but I do love Eyeshield 21.

Now let’s hope other Shonen Jump series learn something from this and finish up as well.

According to the ann article i cited it says monday. It doesn't say last monday, or this monday, just monday. So I assume its next monday.

This made me think of all the different manga I'm reading and how a lot of them are still running. Actually, I know that at least three of them have ended but the volumes haven't been released IMC yet.

Haven't read Eyeshield 21, but have seen the first episode.

I love Eyeshield 21.  I wish they would release more episodes here.
