FUNi's 4 and 3: Gankutsuou and Slayers Revolution

FUNi's ten new announcements are winding down...what's the big finish going to be?

Gankutsuou
Gankutsuou
Sorry I didn't get Gankutsuou's licensing up last night-- suffice it to say that due to a stomach bug, I spent much of my evening romancing a toilet. (Yes, it was really a stomach bug, not demon whiskey.)

Anyway! FUNimation's latests New Shows A-Go-Go are Gankutsuou and Slayers Revolution. Neither should be a surprise to anyone; Gankutsuou-- a stunning retelling of The Count of Monte Cristo, from the viewpoint of Mercedes' son Albert, in space! --is still another Geneon rescue, and of course FUNi has the license to all the previous Slayers titles.

That said, it's nice to see a license that hasn't already been released or partially released already (besides, of course, Nabari no Ou, which I hate to discount since it's a pretty fun show). Slayers Revolution was a fun entry into the franchise; the first anime to feature a story that was not in the

original novels, but still a solid mix of drama and the usual goofy comedy. Of course, everyone's on edge about its follow-up, Slayers Evolution-R, because whispers abound that it may be much darker and more emo than previous Slayers series...

So, we're down to two slots left. Glancing back at the hints and whatnot, I'm guessing #2 is Soul Eater and #1 is Evangelion 1.0.

This is the first of the Funimation announcements that I'm actually interested in. Too bad the DVDs aren't coming until 2010, but at least we get a digital release to look forward to next year according to ANN.

I'm very happy for Slayers Revolution though I do wish the dvds would release quicker 'cause I'll probably 21 by the time they come out then when I'm only 19 now. xD

Too bad. I was hoping for some Slayers in 2009, though I'll admit I haven't gotten to watch NEXT or TRY yet.
