Reader Void Wizard sent me a tip to Josh's blog, where he's gotten word that FUNimation is going to announce 10 new licenses in 10 days, starting on December 22. He suggests-- probably rightly –that FUNi will announce at least some of the titles they've recently sent out C&Ds for, such as Soul Eater, Mushi-Uta, Seto no Hanayome-- which they even gave an English name, My Bride is a Mermaid! --and hey, maybe even Evangelion 1.0. (Interesting, since we were just speculating on Bandai having that one...)
Of course, that's speculation. And hey, even if we went with everything they'd C&D'd in the last year (and hadn't already announced), that'd be six titles-- the above plus Spice and Wolf* and Katekyo Hitman Reborn. So unless I'm missing something (and I may be; since I'm trying to get to the airport soon I don't have time to do the more extensive research I normally would do), there should be at least four complete surprises.
* It's worth noting that Spice and Wolf is licensed by Kadokawa Pictures USA, but last I heard they were still looking for a production company, so it's entirely possible that FUNi snatched it up. Kadokawa's had a pretty cozy relationship with Bandai (Haruhi, Lucky Star, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time), but they've also worked with ADV on titles that FUNi now has distributorship over (Guyver the Bio-Boosted Armor and Full Metal Panic!), so the two have a recent working relationship.
Right then, enough of my speculation-- let's get to yours! What do you think FUNi's got? What do you WANT them to get? (KaibaKaibaKaibaZetsubousenseiKaiba!)

"I'd actually be pretty surprised if they licensed Kaiba; it's a very weird, artsy kind of title...not the kind I'd expect to do very well.Ah, I haven't seen it though I heard good things about it. :)
On the other hand, it could boost credit with some of the indie animation fans, so maybe it's not a total long-shot."
