First Look at Tomino’s Ring of Gundam

Love is a burning thing, and it makes a fiery ring...

Ahoy ahoy, Gundam fans, I have for you more news out of this year’s Gundam Big Expo event. Last Friday the people over at the Gundam Big Expo were blessed with a preview of Yoshiyuki Tomino’s Ring of Gundam short film, though only part of it. The Mainichi Shimbum paper did us all a favor and snuck us a picture of it, though I would be a little more pleased with a trailer or something.

This Ring of Gundam story is about a giant ring that is floating near the lunar orbit sometime far into the Universal Century. During this time a boy finds an object called the “Beauty Memory” that was buried in some kind of mountain. This “Beauty Memory” probably has something to do with Amuro Ray, so I’m guessing it is a Gundam. Basically, this is some kind of acid trip story that deals with Amuro Ray’s memories.

The clip that they showed everyone at the Expo seemed to be pretty abstract from what I hear across the net, like naked people floating through space abstract. But I guess this is what we come to expect out of Tomino now that he is a changed man.
