Fanime 2009: Not So Ultra-Relaxing

More fun and games at Fanime Con 2009!

So here's the next video from Fanime 2009-- and you'll be seeing a ton across the next week, since I just spent the majority of yesterday shooting with Ethan prior to our panel --and this one is all about the sheer volume of stuff to see, do, take pictures of, and buy at Fanime Con...or any medium-to-large anime convention, really! I hope you enjoy it. And I hope to god most of you remember this song.

(It's Ultra-Relax, from Kodomo no Omocha.)

I would hit that fantasy Haruhi like a ton of bricks falling from a stupidly high height.

 Just sayin'.

Wow, I remember that song now that you mention the anime.  BTW gia did you get any footage of the protesters (and anti-protesters)?

@Pyro: Nooooooo, I didn't have my camera on me at the time. I think Ethan did though. We'll see! :)

protesters? what protesters? where people protesting anime or was the protest  unrelated to anime.

I believe it was about turning back to God or something.
Ah yes, at the very the least there was someone holding a sigh "Turn to Jesus or burn in Hell". Saw it here, on RedRoses's blog.

@Fabe: Basically, there's a bunch of people who come with signs and a megaphone to speak their "words of wisdom" to convert all us evil otaku into fun-loving Christians. Convention goers gawk at them since no one takes them seriously. For example, there's was a Jesus cosplayer last year (and this year) that hung around their area doing random things that's un-Jesusy (best made up word ever).

Here is last year's Fanime forum thread about it:

There's a couple pictures and videos linked throughout the thread but you'll have to wade through it.

I didn't see much of it this year (because I tend to avoid the huge crowds and I also was getting bombarded by people asking for my picture as Yoko) so I can't give a detailed account of it. My friend took a quick picture that Zeouterlimits linked to. :)

Hahaha, wow.... you know you've made a big convention when you start to get protesters that have no clue what they're doing. Heck, the last con I went to actually had sped up religious services after the closing ceremony since everyone was doing typical con stuff in the morning, so those guys really must be just that bored.

I'm a little surprised at the resurgence of Slam Dunk lately... that series has been in the US for quite a while but it seems to be making a rather strange comeback as of late.

"I'm still trying to figure out what's going on" - Hahaha, good luck!

OHman, Christian fundamentalist are getting more and more out of hand. I swear it's only a matter of time before they take up arms to cleans the world of us "sinners".

At Ohayocon there was a Christian convention and Cheerleading convention going on at the same time. Got lots of funny looks from both groups. Cheerleader mothers were more often the ones to give cosplayers dirty looks and keep  their kids away.
