Fall Preview: Sora no Otoshimono

Early previews of upcoming fall anime titles.

I realized that this is the third fantasy anime in a row I've previewed for fall and, worried, went to look at my cheat sheet...which is when I realized that fall '09 is going to be a pretty fantasy-heavy season. @_@

Title: Sora no Otoshimono
JP Title: そらのおとしもの
Title Translation: The Sky's Lost Things
Studio: AIC
Genre: Fantasy/Comedy
Airs: Chiba TV, Mondays at 12am, starting Oct. 5th
A would-be "normal guy," Tomoki Sakurai, tries to have a normal life in spite of the strange dreams he has about a girl who he feels he should remember. Then, one day, she falls from the sky-- a scantily-clad angel with wings and a chain around her neck. Along with the angel, Ikaros, comes a slew of decidedly not-normal difficulties for Tomoki to deal with.

If you watch the trailer above, you might notice that the series looks a little...schizophrenic. With a kind of badass, dark opening, suddenly we move into a totally typical supernatural harem rom-com (think Shuffle!), except with occasional hints at a darker plot. I'm kinda thrown for a loop here. The series is based on the popular manga of the same name by Suu Minazuki, published in Kadokawa's Shounen Ace. At least the harem is "healthy," if a little bit overly buxom...not that I have anything against lolis, but I'm kinda getting tired of them. Of course, just because the lead's not a loli doesn't mean there ISN'T a loli...sigh.

That looks like every other damn magical girl anime. I'll pass.

Why the hell is it that every anime male in existance has a harem following him around and lusting for him, while I don't? Fuck, life is so unfair.

The only thing I can thing about now is how hard is it to kill one of those things.

Dig Deeper into Heaven's Lost Property

Tomoki Sakurai is haunted by a re-occurring dream in which a mysterious girl is taken away from him by the sky. His hopes for a life of "peace and quiet" are shattered when a falling Pet-Class Angeloid Ikaros falls from the sky and into his life.
