The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi-chan
Seriously, being a fan of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya sucks these days. First off, we've been waiting for news regarding the second season, and the biggest news we've had on it in the last few months has been that there SHOULD be news in the next issue of Newtype, due out in Japan in February. And we have no idea what kind of news it'll be...given Kadokawa's history of weird marketing techniques for Haruhi, it could be absolutely nothing useful. (On the other hand, we all hold out hope that we'll finally have info on when the show will happen and what kind of story it will follow.)
But now we have even more unhappy news. In the midst of not getting a second season came an announcement that there would be a web anime based on two Haruhi 4koma spin-offs, Nyoro~n Tsuruya-san and The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi-chan. But we never got any dates on that either, and now Sankaku Complex reports that it's not even in production yet, meaning we may not even get it by the end of 2009.
Seriously, Kadokawa and Kyoto Animation. We love you for bringing us Haruhi. Why do you hate us so?
Surely they're in danger of losing a portion of the fanbase, especially the less fanatical fans?
We'll see...
