Considering that, for over a decade, Universal Studios had a 4D attraction based off TERMINATOR 2, it probably shouldn’t be so odd to picture theme park rides based off the likes of ATTACK ON TITAN or RESIDENT EVIL. Still, the gnostic Apocalypse of EVANGELION is so fundamentally weird, you can’t help but raise an eyebrow (and maybe a snicker a little) when thinking of it on the same terms of, say, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.
Yet, there it is. And they even went as far as to theme a latte after one of the angels - - Lance of Longinus cherry skewer, and all - - for everybody to pick up on the way out.
ANN has relayed some links from Universal Studios Japan's website. These four new video game and anime-inspired attractions are part of the “Cool Japan” tourism initiative, so that immediately raises one question. Or several questions. Plenty of you Vicers have held hopes of traveling to Nippon for a deeper plunge into otaku-dom -- would any of this entice you more?
Would you want to feel like you were actually right underneath the Colossal Titan, staring up all at his raw and sinewy limbs from that particular angle? Would you want to take matters into your hands and fend off a zombie outbreak at the Umbrella Corporation? Most importantly, would you dare to drink a frosted coffee drink with its own Absolute Terror Field?
Or would all of this scare you away? Hit up the talkback below with your rawest feelings on this.
