When Misato invites you somewhere, how can you say no?

Greetings all, I'm pleased to bring to you some great news. After the fun of our previous joint session ofAnime Vice and Screened to watch the amazing film Summer Wars. Moderator FinalDasa and I have gotten together to plan another anime movie screening. This time we have a little more notice for those that would like to join in. The film we selected will be Evangelion 1.11, and the screening will be held on January 21, 2012. We will meet up at the Screen4ed Chat Room (http://www.screened.com/chat/) at 4PM PST (7PM EST). I'll be there, and I hope to see some Anime Vice users join in on the fun and chat.

For those who are wondering about the availability of the movie. Evangelion 1.11 is on Netflix's physical media but no streaming option. Be sure to get your requests in soon. If you're looking to buy. I'm adding some online retailer information.

Amazon.com

  • Eva 1.11 BD ($19.99USD)
  • Eva 1.11 DVD ($14.99USD)

Rightstuf.com

  • Eva 1.11 BD ($14.99USD)
  • Eva 1.11 DVD ($11.99USD)

Are you going to join us for the Screening Room? Also, feel free to suggest any anime films you'd like us to consider for another screening in the future.

Is it bad for a newbie who's new to Evangelion to watch this movie? Wow, it's two days before I start school again. I'm lucky.

I actually watch this movie with my sisters and we find it....ok. The annoying part about this movie is the main character, Shinji Ikari.

This movie looks interesting and so does Evangelion. I think I will give this a shot :)

Great to see another collaborative screening room, good job guys.

@takashichea: I actually think the movies are the perfect way to get into Evanglion. I never watched the series, but the first two movies were great, and have me waiting for the second.

Beware spoilers though.

@nephrahim:

Thanks!

Looking forward to this event as well! :D I already saw the movie and thought it was great, so this would be a nice way of re-living it.

EDIT: Also sharing this image with you because I love you guys like brothers.

I would if it was sunday or friday.

EquitasInvictuson Jan. 9, 2012 at 1:41 p.m.

Ah man, this is awesome! The original Neon Genesis Evangelion is definitely among my all-time top anime series and the Rebuild films stand next to Kara no Kyoukai as my favorite anime film series. I'm going to put a great effort into stick around for that Screening Room! It'd be a good way to start catching up in anticipation of the 3rd film.

welcome to eva...yeah he can be annoying..but the philosophy is the reason to watch the show not the characters. Can't get it through netflix and can't budget buying it right now (as I own the old series I don't see the point) but have fun good show. Ghost in the shell however is better for movies and Lain is a much better series.

@finaldasa: Pffft, moderators are assholes. Everyone knows that.

finaldasaon Jan. 9, 2012 at 2:20 p.m.

@Newten: Wow. Apparently the ones on here are :P Except that FoxxFireArt of course, he's a saint I hear.

Daniel_Newton moderator on Jan. 9, 2012 at 2:35 p.m.

@finaldasa: No way man, Fox is an ass. But that "Newten" is a pretty cool guy. Eh bans spambots and doesn't afraid of anything.

Handsome, too.

finaldasaon Jan. 9, 2012 at 2:41 p.m.

@Newten: Humble too.

Daniel_Newton moderator on Jan. 9, 2012 at 2:59 p.m.

@finaldasa: Yeah. Still, he's not as cool as that "FinalDasa" guy over on Screened. Now he's a moderator.

...we should probably stop spamming this article now.

This looks interesting, love the movie, unfortunately this is the same day as a Ghibli film festival in Dallas. I'll have to check out the next one.

Hmmmmm, as for other movies I would say some classics like Akira and Ghost in the Shell would be fun, our very more recent things like that Layton movie The Eternal Diva or hey, Paprika would beamazing to do.
UsbCableon Jan. 9, 2012 at 3:34 p.m.

I had Summer Wars on my dvr not knowing what it was from the Funimation channel but never got to watch it since I had to give up my dvr, now I have to see it since it's "amazing". I have this movie and would be happy to join in BUT my flappin PS3 flashed some sexy yellow lights so now I can't watch Blu-rays.....

I watched the entire series years ago but honestly don't remember much besides the main points of the story so the movies are a great little refresher for me. 1.11 and 2.2 were both great, have fun humans.
