Erotic Developers Blocks Foreigners, Explains Why

Censorship just got a little more xenophobic

Hot on the heels of rapelay controversy, Studio Minori, developers of the fairly infamous h-game Ef: A Fairy Tale of the Two, has recently been blocking foreign visitors to their site. Normally, this is the part where we'd speculate why they were doing such a thing, but luckily, Minori explained on their main page, in English none the less.

Apparently, the block is to protect "you" from their oh so awesome culture. Strong words were leveled at the government...

Currently, The bill that allows to limiting the content (It is censorship. Isn't it?) to all EROGEs is being discussed in the Diet because intellectuals and politicians said "Japanese EROGE were being problem and troubled with the foreign country. Therefore we should make EROGE hidden away from foreign country, and also its content should be limited and censored".

Okay, now we trusted the word what they said at once. So we blocked you to make stay away from the trouble.

...Do you like that?

They even go so far as to explain how you could go about sending letters to government officials. Though,  I'm unsure of how any government would respond to cries of outrage over exporting Nurse Paradise 5 .

See, stuff like this always confuses me. I'll stand up entirely for Minori, and while I'm not driven enough to mail in my feelings, I realize that apathy just makes it stronger. This situation feels like a rolling ball of bans. Forget catgirls and enemas, if this keeps going, the only H-games you'll be playing will be Conservative Copulation 6 and Missionary Missive 14.

Since I liked the ef animes I felt I should make a comment.

...yup.
HeeroYuyon June 26, 2009 at 1:44 p.m.
I don't blame them. Personally I think it's an incredibly smart move on their part...

And if any foreigners really want to get it, then I'm sure there's a third party retailer or service you can buy it through so it's not a huge deal to us either. This way they're primarily locking out the stupid dipsh**s who whined in the first place.

@HeeroYuy: true, but it felt like they were trying to prove their cause right, while complying with continuing demands on them. Though yes, the only person honestly stunted by this move would be the arrogant know-nothing.

Really, who amongst those who buy/play h-games even go to the Japanese dev-pages?

That kinda suck but it understandable. Let remember the whole thing that kick this off was Equality Now. The mostly US based group but has international connections who " demanding that Japan institute a ban on H-games that feature violence towards women and lolicon." Vice Article 'Equality Now Demands: Japan, Ban H-Games'.
Then on May 28, 2009 we thought there was a Ban on H-games however this was a false report form TBS news in japan. But we did learn the the EOCS (Ethics Organization of Computer Software) were going to meeting on June 2ed.
On June 2ed EOCS did deiced to regulate H-games.
On June 5, 2009 Vice reports a list of regulations.
On June 23, 2009 EOCS bans a list of words.

This sires of events was cause and outside force form japan (Equality Now) effected there entire H-game market. I imagine that they are trying to avoid further regulations buy not showing their products to an outside market.

Forget H-Games; if this keeps going, what will keep them from taking down, say, Negima? Or ZKC? Or Kodomo no Jikan? A (fictional) naked little girl is a (fictional) naked little girl after all.

Just like my brother said (MoonStorm) H-games and EROGE are have a hard run these last past months. I was thinking this was going to be a quick and nothing time waster but now, I don't know. Now I sure we'll hear more about this really soon. Whats next?

I still think it's kinda crazy that these games are getting banned all of a sudden.  I think it all started when Amazon took down Rapelay.

Yes please save me from the Japanese culture that is turning me into a killer robot rape murder sex machine. Did I mention kitty murdering, puppy strangling psycho?

Me so helpless, me must be protected from the devil's country Japan.

@MoonStorm: Nice job with the links and commentary sir! Man, we need an onsite search bar.

@dagas: bwahaha

I'd just stake my blame at EOCS, some pressure group with an excessive demand that hinder creativity and carnal desires. If only EOCS understands what some people go through

" ...Do you like that?"
When did eroge devs get Hideo Kojima to write their statements?
