“My hair isn’t all blue in the film and Justin Chatwin’s hair isn’t 10-feet high, so I think everything changes a bit or gets lost in translation, so I hope that [the fans are] pleased,” Rossum offers. “I think the core of what it it and the core of the story and the core of the characters is the same.”
Rossum hopes that fans will at least watch the film before writing it off. Which is an understandable hope, but on the other hand, it's kind of odd-- if all the Dragonball fans go and see the film to determine if it's as bad as they think, then the ticket sales make it a success.
I can understand her desire to not have the movie written off out of hand, but at the same time, it doesn't seem fair to expect fans who haven't liked the trailers and stills released so far to go and see the movie because it might be better than it looks-- it's the marketers' responsibility to sell the movie, and if fans don't think it looks good, that's a marketing failure, not just fans being closed-minded meanie-butts.
What do you think? Should fans set aside their preconceived notions based on the materials offered so far and see the movie, or is it fair for them to look at those materials and decide it looks too bad to be worth their money?

I'll never pay for a Dragonball anything without a krillen!
On the other hand, DBE looks terrrible.
I still plan to see it , of course.
On-topic: Maybe I'll rent it or watch it when it hits some lower-tier cable network at 2AM for lolz. I'm curious as to how they can distill a 40-episode story arc (with 10 episodes of training and 20 episodes of yelling, bulging muscles and pulling new superpowers out of asses) into almost 85 minutes of action.
Now i want to rewatch that review goes to the Thatguywiththeglasses site lol
Hopefully I can write a review up for it as soon as I do watch it. =) I'll be watching it with a group of people so hopefully I can at least have some entertaining commentary from them.
As for trailers and such, I believe we as viewers have every right to judge movies based on what type of advertising ploys they give. If we were to go to every movie that we've watched trailers of, that'd be quite a pretty penny. Not to sound corny or anything but people judge a book by its cover and *maybe* synopsis. A trailer is essentially like a book's synopsis.
Even for those that don't know of Dragonball, you can see the movie is sub-par based on trailers anyway... so it isn't just the DB fans that are not watching it...
