I didn't realize that tomorrow will be a Friday the 13th until FUNimation sent out word that they'll be airing the first four episodes of Soul Eater on their video site starting tomorrow, in honor of the spooky day. (Shame they missed out on Halloween.)

The first four episodes of Soul Eater are pretty strong, each of the first three introducing a main student/weapon duo (or trio, in the case of Death the Kid/ Patty/ Liz), and the fourth is when they all group together to work on a single case.

Also of note from FUNimation: the first nine minutes of Evangelion 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone are now also online at the site as well. So check Eva out today, and check Soul Eater out tomorrow, and come back here and tell us what you think!

That's cool! Since I have only watched the first four episodes in Japanese, I would like to see how the final dub ended up.

I always felt that Soul Eater looked like what would happen if Tim Burton were to make an anime/manga.

@FoxxFireArt: Nah, I think Soul Eater's a bit too "punk" in its aesthetic for Burton. Burton tends to like a little bit more retro-- '50s in Edward Scissorhands, mid-19th century for Sweeney Todd, 18th century for Sleepy Hollow, '60s for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, etc. Even his relatively modern flicks like Batman and Batman Returns have a distinctly noir, slightly older-school feel to them.

I would actually say Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei would be closer to Burton-esque, although it's a little bit more directly comedy than his works I think.

Dig Deeper into Soul Eater

Soul Eater is the anime adaptation of the manga by the same name. It follows the adventures of the students at Shibusen, school for meisters and weapons, as they fight to keep the kishin, evil demon gods, from reviving.
