Dragonball Evolution Sequel Already Written, Not Greenlit

God help us all.

Hollywood execs have never yet met a sequel they didn't like...unless you count the ones we actually wanted, like Restaurant at the End of the Universe, the sequel to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, or further adaptations of His Dark Materials, which ended after Golden Compass performed middlingly.

Now, we've heard about the possibility of a Dragonball Evolution sequel before, but all we really knew was that the actors had been signed on for two sequels-- which doesn't mean they'll get made, it's really more a “just in case” for any series that could become a major movie franchise, which Warner Bros. clearly thinks DBE could.

But Goku actor Justin Chatwin chatted up the UK's SciFiNow and made it known that there's actually a script to a sequel already written, and it takes the film back into the “genealogy of Dragonball,” apparently. Now, I think of Goku as the start of the genealogy, since he's the one who has kids, but...eh. At this point, I'm lacking the energy to complain.

Anyway, a script existing does not guarantee a sequel-- they'll only greenlight it if the first film's returns suggest that a sequel would do well. That said, what do YOU think this sequel would be about? You guys know DBZ better than me, probably.

What the hell is this FIRST movie even about??

A sequel might try to throw in Vegeta and Gohan. I guess. I dunno. God, I hope that doesn't happen. PLEASE NO ONE GO SEE THIS MOVIE EVEN IF IT MIGHT BE HILARIOUSLY BAD. D8

This movie is a summer blockbuster with a big name, I'd be surprised if it fails at the box office, a sequel is very likely.

I thought DBE was a Fox movie, not Warner Bros.

I'm not surprised a sequel is possible. I really don't doubt this will do decently, either in box office or DVD sales. People will go see DBE, even just to watch the train wreck.

The first movie is beating a dead horse that's already been beaten while dead by many others.

If a second comes along, it would be the equivalent of having 16 male bears in mating season finding this stump of torn-apart horse and mistaking it for a chance to produce some offspring.
