Dragon Quest IX to be Licensed in America

Do want!

Great news, Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies is to be released in North America finally giving us westerners a chance to play this masterpiece. However, Square Enix will not be publishing the game here in North America, for they have given that power over to Nintendo. This isn’t something new, for other Final Fantasy games for the DS have been brought over to North America in a similar fashion.

This game was released back in July of 2009, and has sold record numbers since then, even receiving a perfect score from Famitsu magazine. This game will be released sometime in the summer of 2010; the sooner the better. I have been waiting for this game to get published over here for a very long time now, and I’m overjoyed that it finally has been.

I'm really excited for this game.  Loved DQ 8 and DQ 4.  I have 5, but haven't beat it yet.  Let the questing begin!

What is it about DQ that people like? I dont hate it, but every time i have tried to play the game it always came across as feeling generic and dull. Maybe it's just not a game for me.

I agree on the not getting it, though I've really just come to loathe how cheap and repetitive the designs are. Yes, I get it, you made Dragonball Z, what else do you have?

Though, to be fair, DQ9 got amazing, amazing feedback, much moreso than the majority of the prior entries. I'm willing to keep my ear on the ground.

I enjoy DQIX a lot, been playing it.

Yeah, the designs are not remotely inspired, I really wish they'd have someone else do the designs sometime, but they appeal to the old-school JRPG gamer. Whereas FF does new stuff in every game, DQ goes with the tried and true formula.  Sometimes, you just want something that harkens back to your childhood, but you don't want to actually play the same game over and over.  DQ delivers there.

@Addfwyn: yes but some people hate it when a game changes to much like the final fantasy people complain  about the games not being what it used to be.
if it ain't broke don't fix it some would say.
