Dragon Ball Z Kai to Air on CW4Kids

Starting sometime after this summer.

Okay, those of you who complained about not having Nicktoons-- which is set to start airing Dragon Ball Z Kai in May --congratulations, because I'm guessing most of you have the CW, and the CW4Kids block airs in most states.

FUNimation has teamed up with 4Kids to air DBZ Kai on the CW4Kids Saturday morning block-- the same block that just re-added Magical DoReMi --starting...well, we don't know exactly when, but sometime during the 2010-2011 "season." There are sneak peeks that will air this summer, so we can probably guess that the show will air late in the summer or in fall. (Via AICNAnime)

Now, on the one hand, while 4Kids is airing the show in their block, it's FUNimation's dub-- but on the other hand, it's broadcast, so it'll certainly be as edited as the Nicktoons version, if not more.

What do you guys think? Will you watch?

So exactly how different is Kai from the original?
I started watching Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood but quickly lost  interest, I  imagine DBZ Kai will have the same effect on me.

In HD and has no filler as I understand it.

I'll check out some of the more infamous scenes like first-time transformations etc. but I won't watch the whole thing.

Yeah I probably won't be watching then. I just can't go back and watch some shows, that includes DBZ.

@Sreya:
Brotherhood changes to a completely different beast after episode 17 and I mean NOTHING is the same, this show trumps the original ( this coming from someone who put the first FMA in his top 5 fav. anime). Start watching Brotherhood then and see if you like it (HINT HINT You will).
On Topic time for 4kids to change khamehamehas to watergun shots.:(

Nice, this is good news.

So 4Kids does remember what a good decision is?

I thought their only offering for Fall 2010 was going to be reruns of all their old shows...including NEW reruns of DoReMi. Seeing as how 4Kids has lost Ninja Turtles to Nick they really need to be strong for their new few seasons or it'll be over.

It has been digitially remastered in HD and anything that was not present in the original manga has been removed. Rather than the 200-300 or so episodes Dragon Ball Z originally was, DB Kai will finish its run at Episode 100. It's a leaner, meaner, far more enjoyable and much more intense experience, minus all the silly monologues, flashbacks, and padding.

Yeah, right now episode 54 just aired and it's already the end of the Frieza Saga, which lasted 107 episodes in the original (92 in the dub). There has been an incredible amount of filler removed.

Wow, that's impressive, I didn't think it would have that much of an impact.

I'll check out the dub. The original DBZ that aired on Toonami is what first drew me into anime and therefore I really like it even for its fillers. I'm really tired of how edited daytime and Saturday morning shows have to be here and I wish that anime could/would go mainstream and be on a major network. I mean, Fox has The Simpsons, Family Guy, and American Dad! People find those offensive and they have overblown and slightly extreme violence. We should create the demand.

I never thought I'd say this about an anime series, but anything would be better than the shitty Japanese voice acting.
Lcehon April 27, 2010 at 7:49 a.m.
hmmm.... i'm pretty sure i wont be watching. iv watched DBZ soo many times it's pretty much implanted to the back of my skull, but while saying that watching re-masterd fights such as the freeza battles might just be worth my time. just to see goku looking glorious in high-def colours. i wonder.

I'm pretty sure I saw an ad that Dragon Ball Kai was coming to Nicktoons.  I know that Naruto Shippuden is on Disney XD now.

Dig Deeper into Dragon Ball Z Kai

Dragon Ball Z Kai is a complete reworking and remastering of the Dragon Ball Z anime series to more closely fit Akira Toriyama's original story. Padding and filler content has been removed, massively reducing the amount of episodes. Kai was made to commemorate Dragon Ball's 20th anniversary.
