It is, and is meant to be, I mean hard to take one of it's deadliest villains, Buu, a chubby candy loving childish pink monster as a serious attempt at an intimidating villain, though I'm waiting for the backlash of fans that take it too seriously, though they tend to hang in battle forums

The only thing that I think anyone involved with DBZ ever took serious was their dedication to cool fight scenes and an unfettered love of power ups... and screaming. Screaming is probably what the creators took the most serious of all.
Damn that song, I told my friend not to bother look it up translated I didn't no it either but knew for a fact it made absolutely no sense, he came back to me and my gawd the look on his face said everything I needed to know.
