This is just a little blip of a rumor, but it's from Coming Soon, which grants it some credence to me . Apparently 20th Century Fox may have renamed the live-action Dragon Ball film Dragon Ball Evolution, which seems funny if you've been watching the increasingly horrific train wreck of the film's development over the last year-ish.

Anyway, it would be kind of a weird last-minute change considering the film’s due to hit theaters in April of ’09, but on the other hand, a move like that isn’t likely to make things any worse…

Evolution? Why Evolution? Is it because it's coming off from the anime series? Since the movie is sort of an introduciton into tthe DB universe, a reboot if you will, why is it called Evolution? It's not a sequel to anything. Damn Fox, keep your greedy 50+ year old marketing team out of this!  If you screw this up, there will be a legion of angry DB fans out there!

I remember watching Dragonball Z several years ago in the mid-ninties.  I never thought in a million years that Hollywood of all place would create a live action film based on the manga and perhaps anime.  What's next Slam Dunk? Golgo 13? (I shiver at the thought of Hollywood butchering him!) Inuyasha? Naruto?  The list is endless.  I am not going to waste my money on an inevitable flop.  If Hollywood truly thinks that Dragonball is going to be a box office smash, then they need massive doses of reality checks.

Ruby_Alexandrine: Golgo is so awesome that if a Hollywood exec even suggested doing something that would screw up a movie about him, he'd snipe them. From Tokyo Tower or something. Seriously.
