DO WANT! Lucky Star Cosplays Macross Frontier

Epic win.

A new set of trading figures has been announced from Banpresto's Ichiban Kuji: Lucky Star characters dressed up as Macross Frontier characters.

Unsurprisingly, pink-haired Miyuki-chan will be dressed in Sheryl Nome's “military uniform” concert outfit-- for those unaware, the two characters feature the same voice actress, Aya Endo. Tsukasa is the Ranka to Miyuki's Sheryl...kind of ironic, when you think about it: the two least popular characters in Lucky Star (of the primary four) are playing the two most popular characters in Macross F, hm.

Kagami is dressed as Klan Klan, while gender-bending lovers will adore Konata dressed as Macross F's indecisive hero, Alto. There are other items available as well, it looks like, including the three younger Lucky Star characters dressed as waitresses from Ranka's restaurant, Konata dressed as that funny little green critter that runs off with Sheryl's undergarments in one episode, a few of the fighter jet models, and others. It's pretty epic.

The release date is set for September, and it looks like the MSRP per figure is ¥800 (about $8.20 USD). I'd bet on them being in the $10-20 range when imported, but it looks like we won't be seeing them at the big summer cons this year, alas! Still, how adorable are they? I want a full set. I can't wait until we can see the full paint versions.

What do you guys think? I'd also be kind of interested to see another set with the characters all cosplaying slightly differently-- maybe Yutaka as Ranka, Patricia as Sheryl, Minami as Klan Klan, and Minoru Shiraishi as Alto. Hmm!

Mmhm! I'll definitely be getting these. ^-^
I don't think I've ever seen a Lucky Star cosplay of Macross F before or even a Haruhi Macross F cosplay, so would that make this a rather original idea?

Very cute! And how oddly timely too, considering I was just watching an ep of Frontier recently. (Note to anime powers-to-be, please license for R1 market!!)  And I agree, it would be fun to see them with their final paint schemes. Nice catch Gia!

I would buy these

oh, I do want.

Oh hey, do want.

@JohnnySake: Good luck on seeing an R1 license-- Harmony Gold has the license to all the Macross stuff because they bought it so they could make Robotech. Unfortunately, that means that almost no straight Macross series get released here. It's a licensing nightmare, really.

@gia: I understand the Harmony Gold situation, but how did ADV get the original Macross?

Scary how well the characters fit.

Wow, now those are cute. I thought I would never want any Lucky Star Figures... but that opinion might have changed just now.

I'll have to keep an eye out for these.
JohnnySakeon June 9, 2009 at 6:01 p.m.
@gia: You're right about the whole Robotech / Macross thing. I remember sitting through a presentation of theirs at last year's Comic-Con (in order to get seats for the Punisher panel afterwards.) Most of the legalese went right over my head but it seemed like an interesting presentation at the time.

People give a shit about lucky star still?
JELEINENon June 9, 2009 at 7:03 p.m.
There's also the Big West vs. Tatsunoko Pro issue when it comes to the Macross franchise.

These figures amuse me and I think I will buy them.

So do want, and yes Kuro some people like me give a crap about lucky star.
giaon June 10, 2009 at 9:50 a.m.
@HeeroYuy: I would assume that ADV went through Harmony Gold to get the sub-license, but that's speculation on my part.
